The release of Jean-Cosme Delaloye's documentary on the life
and career of Motor City techno great Carl Craig has offered
the Planet E founder the chance to release its' soundtrack -
a fine retrospective trawl through his vast back catalogue.
While there are a few stone-cold classics missing (Paperclip
People's immense 'Throw' being an obvious omission), it's
still a fine, classics-packed primer that deftly showcases
Craig's dexterity and longevity. Compare and contrast, for
example, the slow-building, life-affirming joy of his rework
of Slam's 'Azure', the deep tech-jazz of 'At Les', the
bleeping sleaze of 69's 'My Machines', the breakbeat-driven
future jazz of Innerzone Orchestra's 'Bug In A Bassbin', the
neo-classical sweeps of 'Sandstorms (Beatless Version)' and
the dub-flecked Motor City techno/jazz fusion of Moritz von
         Oswald collaboration 'Attentuator'.
