Release Notes:
*SONS features former members of Boston's shoegaze/drone outfit Suntan
and Chapel Hill's spazz rock outfit known as A Problem of Alarming
Dimensions. Principal songwriters Scott Endres and William 'Josh'
Bratcher met each other shortly after each had relocated to the Chapel
Hill area. Scott had come down from Boston after the demise of his band
Suntan(Kimchee Records), while William had made the trek up from his home
in Arkansas with his own project APOAD. Mutual friends introduced the
pair and a musical connection was made. Soon after two other Arkansas
transplants, drummer John Perros(Faulkner) and bassist Jason Meeks(APOAD)
signed on and, with the addition of a third guitarist, Hugh Swaso(Barb
arella), *SONS was born. Shortly after recording had finished, Jason made
the decision to relocate out of state and has since been replaced on bass
by Adam Kish, bassist for local band Hazerai.
Recorded December 06 at their practice/studio space, Viracochas is a must
have debut record for fans of Swervedriver style shoegaze, the haphazard
pscyhedelic sound of the 13th Floor Elevators and early 90s rock such
as Built to Spill and Seam. Big guitars and rolling, rumbling bass lines-
it's big rock fused with elements of psych pop and indie rock quirkiness.
