 ████            Frank looks back to move forward, clearing her            ████
 ████            writers' block by reconnecting with her                   ████
 ████            earliest influences - Detroit techno, kosmische           ████
 ████            music and dub - and integrating them with                 ████
 ████            vaporous new age soundscapes. It's healing                ████

 ████            Stuck in a creative rut after experiencing a              ████
 ████            period of emotional turmoil, Frank initially              ████
 ████            imagined 'Juggling Dualities' as a new age                ████
 ████            album, a properly tripped-out follow-up to its            ████
 ████            lysergic, Dozzy-in-dub predecessor. But the               ████
 ████            more she worked on the tracks, the more she               ████
 ████            found herself combing her memory banks and                ████
 ████            reflecting on all the music that's shaped her             ████
 ████            outlook, powering not just her taut latter-day            ████
 ████            productions but early remixes and dextrous,               ████
 ████            genre-averse DJ sets. So although opener 'Am I            ████
 ████            Human?', with its breathy vocal snips, swelling           ████
 ████            pads and criss-crossed synthpeggios, sounds               ████
 ████            directly on brand, a contemporary love letter             ████
 ████            to Suzanne Ciani and Tangerine Dream, the album           ████
 ████            shifts the timeline as it advances, integrating           ████
 ████            hallucinatory percussion on 'Upward Spiral'               ████
 ████            (we're hearing Gigi Masin and Midori Takada)              ████
 ████            and hitting its stride on 'Moodified', edging             ████
 ████            towards the outer perimeter of the dancefloor             ████
 ████            once more.                                                ████

 ████            More than on previous records, Frank sounds               ████
 ████            motivated by hooks and harmonies rather than              ████
 ████            complex rhythmic lattices - the kind of                   ████
 ████            hummable, melancholy pad-and-lead sequences               ████
 ████            you'd expect to find on any number of early               ████
 ████            Paperclip People tracks (or Warp 12"s on our              ████
 ████            side of the pond). A literate listener, Frank             ████
 ████            creates music that's intricately modern but               ████
 ████            taps into the forgotten seduction of those                ████
 ████            classic records; dance music has moved on to              ████
 ████            more functional, technical places and there's             ████
 ████            something refreshing about hearing these                  ████
 ████            whimsical day-zero Detroit gestures again. Even           ████
 ████            on 'Embracing the Unknown', initially a bare-             ████
 ████            bones fusion of Richard Horowitz-style sampled            ████
 ████            clangs and boxy, shuffling sounds, the new                ████
 ████            age-isms are split by the kind of synapse-                ████
 ████            farming full-spectrum pads you'd expect to hear           ████
 ████            on B12's 'Electro-Soma'. It's not "ambient"               ████
 ████            music, but it's made with the same obsessive              ████
 ████            attention to euphony.                                     ████

 ████            Frank angles her nostalgia so carefully that              ████
 ████            it's almost like watching a tightrope walk;               ████
 ████            this isn't a pitch-perfect Artificial                     ████
 ████            Intelligence-era love-in, or a tribute to Carl            ████
 ████            Craig's era-defining run, it's purposefully               ████
 ████            anachronistic music made with a keen, cautious            ████
 ████            attention to detail. Frank's capable of                   ████
 ████            replicating the sounds flawlessly as a kind of            ████
 ████            sonic trompe-l'£il before dazzling us with                ████
 ████            something novel: just peep the 'Sueno                     ████
 ████            Latino'/'E2-E4' nod on 'Nectar' before Frank              ████
 ████            shifts things into a more contemporary                    ████
 ████            psychedelic space; or the light nods to 'Songs            ████
 ████            About Food and Revolutionary Art' on 'Bonded              ████
 ████            for Eternity', when jazzy, downsampled steel              ████
 ████            drums and skittering rhythms are padded out               ████
 ████            with ethereal voices, footwork-y micro rhythms            ████
 ████            and continuum-rupturing edits. The album builds           ████
 ████            up to the crowd-pleasing 'Solace', one of                 ████
 ████            Frank's most effortlessly satisfying tracks to            ████
 ████            date, and then deflates with 'Lows and                    ████
 ████            Attractions', looping us back into meditative             ████
 ████            bliss.s                                                   ████
