Brooklyn house originator Jovonn steps up for the second instalment in the
Mother Tongue X Neroli series, following the collaborative Glenn
Underground release that kicked off the Verona labels' joint run. Issued as
part of Neroli's 25th anniversary celebrations, this four-tracker pulls
directly from Jovonn's own archive, shining light on different shades of
his sound. 'Mystic Soul' rides on lush chords and swing, 'The Session'
strips back to hypnotic pulse and percussion, 'What About' brings Dawn
Nicole into the fold for a smoky vocal-led jam, and 'Heads Are Dancing
(Extended)' pushes into rawer, floor-grabbing territory. With three decades
of productions behind him, Jovonn continues to underline why his work has
long been a touchstone in house.
