▐▒▌ Following from EiTheLMP3 Tip #06, with EAC installed in your PC, and ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ an AudioCD in *EACH* of your CD readers (including CD-R(W) burners, ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ DVD-ROM readers and DVD-[+]R burners), go to the CD reader selection ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ pull-down (just under the EAC, Edit, Action, etc menus) and select one ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ of them. Let's go for the Drive settings: ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ F10 (Drive Options)/Extraction Method Tab: ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Click on "Detect Read Features" and *if* the test says so, put a tick ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ on "Drive Has 'Accurate Stream' Feature", else don't do it. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ If the previous test said so, put also a tick on "Drive Caches Audio ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Data", else don't do it. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ In any case, do *always* use "Secure Modes", because this is what ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ makes EAC the very best audio grabber in the world. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ If you are in a hurry, "Burst Mode" will turn EAC into a plain ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ audio grabbing tool, but this is *NOT* recommended at all. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Don't use the C2 feature, because this relies on the drive's ability ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ about spotting read errors. It's *much* better to let EAC work in ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Secure Mode by re-reading a suspicious sector up to a max of 82 ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ times. No other tool comes close to EAC's fantastic ability in ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ recovering scratched or bad AudioCDs. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ F10 (Drive Options)/Drive Tab: ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Click on "AutoDetect Read Command Now" for autoselection. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Spin Up Drive Before Extraction: YES. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ F10 (Drive Options)/Offset/Speed Tab: ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Speed Selection: Set this to about 8X or 10X, *NOT* more. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Allow Speed Reduction During Extraction: YES. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ CD-Text Read Capable Drive: YES (if it is...). ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ F10 (Drive Options)/Gap Detection: ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Gap/Index Retrival Method: Try "A". If it fails, then use "B". ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Detection Accuracy: ACCURATE ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Repeat these steps for *ALL* your drives, one by one. Now you want to ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ use your best drive for grabbing, right?. These are the general rules: ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ "Accurate Stream" -> better if it has this. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ "Drive Caches Audio Data" -> better if it does *not* have this. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Now try extracting the same track to WAV with *all* the CD readers ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ available in your PC, using similar settings where possible. Note the ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ total time for each of them. Load the WAVs into an Audio Editor and ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ listen to them. If you hear an artifact, go back and try to *SEE* it ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ graphically, just to make sure it is a click or so. Choose the fastest ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ one with a perfect audio extraction capabilities. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌

▐▒▌ Edit, Action, etc) y selecciona uno de ellos. Vamos a los ajustes del ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ lector: ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ F10 (Drive Options)/Extraction Method Tab: ▐▒▌

▐▒▌ Haz click en "Detect Read Features" y *si* el test lo dice, pon un ▐▒▌

▐▒▌ "Accurate Stream" -> mejor si lo tiene. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ "Drive Caches Audio Data" -> mejor si *no* lo tiene. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Ahora intenta extraer el mismo track a WAV con *todos* los lectores de ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ CD disponibles en tu PC, utilizando ajustes similares, siempre que ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ esto sea posible. Anota el tiempo total de cada uno. Carga los WAVs ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ en un Editor de Audio y escuchalos. Si oyes un ruido raro, vuelve ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ atras e intenta *VERLO* graficamente, solo para asegurarte de que es ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ un click o algo asi. Elige el lector mas rapido con una perfecta ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ capacidad de extraccion de audio. ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ Fin de la Parte 2. Ahora estas mas cerca del rip perfecto... La Parte ▐▒▌
▐▒▌ 3 sera sobre ajustes de LAME desde EAC... Os vemos pronto!. ▐▒▌
