yet another 2000 black release way ahead of domestic releasing
schedule becomes available to japan!
pavel kostiuk is a pseudonym for dego mcfarlane of 4 hero and this
is the first mysterious album from this unique moniker. some people
have questioned the usage of 'pavel kostiuk' and the name's
origins. the only tracable roots of this name come up in an early
70s european fusion band called implus who recently had a track
issued on 'between or beyond the iron curtain' on crippled dick hot
wax. to make this even more intriguing, most of pavel kostiuk's
track titles have so far been musical titles which explains the
"and the musicals" titling.
either way, this album is one imaginative concept album that is
fueled by dark harmonies, dizzying off- beats and daring
polyrhythms. most of the 4 hero fanatics were already aware of this
oddity in tracks like 'h.m.s. pinafore' (found on the flipside to
the original 12" of 'brand new day' on 2000 black), 'techno boogie'
(found on the first 'the new season' 12" on archive), 'les
miserables' (found on the mix compilation by dj gilb'r 'full
spectrum' on nova) and lastly 'pirates of penzance' (found on the
uk edition of 'the good good' on 2000 black). if you were fond of
these and tracks like 'twothesme' and 'eight' from the 4 hero
full-length 'creating patterns', this is entirely for you! enjoy
and listen respectfully!
