We noticed that Clone releases are still missunderstood by many and taken as a substitute when
cracked ISO releases are not available, and probably not appriciated enough because of
that, which we now intend to rectify by explaining what CloneCDs are and what they are
for.
Essentially CloneCDs need to be released as full untouched image files, with protection still
intact so that you can patch your favorite game directly without having to wait for patches to
be cracked.
Image integrity is necessary only for the CD/DVD that is inserted when the game boots up, so a
single CloneCD can complement previously available ISO release of multiple CDs provided they are
compatible, a CloneCD can therefore not be considered a dupe, since size and contents differ.
Furthermore:
CloneCDs are not violating copyright laws, since one is allowed to keep a singular unmodified
backup of a purchased software retail, by releasing a working backup we do not expect it to
end up in the hands of people who profit by it or break the copyright laws otherwise.
