:#: Hamburg will present "Retrospective - 35 Years of Graffiti Art", :#:
:#: the most comprehensive retrospective to date of the work of :#:
:#: Hamburg graffiti artist Mirko Reisser, also known as DAIM. :#:
:#: With more than 80 original works spread across 1,800 m▓, the :#:
:#: exhibition traces Reisser's journey from a young graffiti artist :#:
:#: to an internationally acclaimed figure. :#:
:#: :#:
:#: In the beginning was the word. :#:
:#: :#:
:#: From the letters RIGHT, secretly sprayed onto a utility box with :#:
:#: friends in the summer of 1989, Reisser developed his own unique :#:
:#: style of graffiti writing over the years. He repetitively writes :#:
:#: his artist name DAIM on canvases, in exhibition spaces, and on :#:
:#: building facades û culminating in the world's tallest existing :#:
:#: mural in Calgary, Canada, in 2022. In doing so, Reisser :#:
:#: transforms his pseudonym into complex structures, giving the :#:
:#: letters the illusion of physicality. When he writes the name DAIM :#:
:#: today, the artist, on the one hand, adheres to the blueprints of :#:
:#: the letters. At the same time, however, he deconstructs and :#:
:#: reconstructs them until it is almost impossible to recognize the :#:
:#: forms as a sequence of letters. In this way, Mirko Reisser :#:
:#: explores the boundary between surface and space, typography and :#:
:#: architecture, legibility and abstraction in his own unique way. :#:
