tight three track ep from those ever-lovable mancunians. actually
on initial listens, it does sound like either they've let their
hair down a bit, or they're simply taking the piss. what's this i
hear, melodies? recognisable rhythms? singing? they're all there
in some form, it's just that the dense layers of noise,
ear-shredding frequencies and digital mayhem all do their best to
drown everything else out.
'gantz graf' gives you breathing space of precisely four seconds
before an almighty belch is emitted and they then attempt to
condense the whole 'confield' album into four minutes. of course
it sounds ace. 'dial' is the most normal sounding track we've
heard from them in a while. minimal jungle rhythms ride over
alternating bursts of playful arpeggio's. the best is saved for
last with the epic 'cap.iv'. orchestral chord structures form the
backing while an ever-increasingly complex rhythm builds over ten
minutes, climaxing in an almighty intense crescendo.
