Much like other local bands that burn out or dissolve, Diego's Hot Balloon
Ride consisted of people that grew apart. They started out as a Thrice
tribute band, then kicked out that singer and decided to go on as an original
four-piece where everyone did vocals. Some influential bands were Cursive,
Minus the Bear, and The Fall of Troy. Many backyard shows ensued, along with
some venue shows. There were a few enthusiastic fans. DHBR never toured or
anything like that. After self-releasing two EPs and one single on Myspace,
they called it quits on the band. The remaining members went on to form
...fire!, later to be known as The Ready Aim Fire!.
