        Hungary is not the first country that comes to mind when talking about
        metal bands/projects, and even in the year 2024 theyÆre relatively few
        compared to other ones. One of them, K÷dfolt, is an emerging name in
        black metal, whose founder, credited as Bot÷÷nd, was a member of
        Infectus, Hold and Gy÷trelem, and only the last one released one or more
        studio albums. In other words, K÷dfoltÆs 2024 album, Bridge to
        Nothingness, is essentially the musicianÆs first studio album ever
        released in which he has a main role.
        A very compact release, featuring 4 lengthy tracks for barely 40 minutes
        of duration, the material is the same brand of depressive/blackgaze
        pioneered by Xasthur, Krohm and USAÆs Leviathan, based on mid-tempo,
        semi-ballad rhythms with drums drenched in reverb, dirge-like pacing,
        dissonant guitar/bass interplay, lead arpeggios, background synth choirs
        and modal, intense and abrupt chord changes. Opener Temptations of a
        Broken Mind could have been included on XasthurÆs first album Nocturnal
        Poisoning, due to its similarity in structure and arrangements. The
        other cuts feature the same exact elements, with a few organ tritons
        discernible from The Decision, while closer Silence of the Void contains
        less spectral A-minor harmonies.
        Production is more oriented in atmosphere than impact, featuring drums
        and vocals penalized and pushed back in the distance, prevalence of lead
        guitar and bass in favor of synths and rhythmic guitar and a softer,
        heavily manipulated percussive impact that renders the material almost
        graceful and soft-sounding, and least compared to other genre releases.
        ItÆs a monotone, funereal sounds that I really appreciate, maybe because
        itÆs far removed from basic metal clichΘs, but rather sounds like a
        rock/ambient hybrid that has always captivated me. Though none of the
        tracks rank among early Xasthur material, I still love them for what
