█▀░░ PsyCZ group was formed in spring 2001 by its first three members ... ░░▀█
█▀░ But as every group grows and gets new members, new people joined PsyCZ ░▀█
█▀░ to help us in our mission. Our main common loved genere was psychedelic ░▀█
█▀░ ... of course, but everone of us likes several more genres. This caused, ░▀█
█▀░ that several members began to demand releasing other music styles such ░▀█
█▀░ as ambient, drum&bass and few more ... So we realized, that our original ░▀█
█▀░ name PsyCZ is a little uncomfortable, because it highlights our psy - ░▀█
█▀░ sight. After few days of debates we decided to found new sub-group ... ░▀█
█▀░ and here we are ... PsyCZ_NP will bring you plenty of non psychedelic ░▀█
█▀░ music ... especially ambient, but some other genres are planned too. ░▀█
█▀░ Why did we decide for non-psy? Changing of the group name isn't possible ░▀█
█▀░ so possibilities we had was only adding a suffix to current group name ░▀█
 █▀░░ ... so have chosen non-psy, because it's clearest and most fluent ... ░░▀█
 █▀░░░ ░░░▀█

█▀║ Shivkumar Sharma is one of the truly great visionaries in the ║▀█
█▀║ Hindustani classical music firmament. His popularity has created a ║▀█
█▀║ knotty problem for his admirers. Popularity has led to a demand for ║▀█
█▀║ recordings by him, to a degree that having a Shivkumar Sharma album ║▀█
█▀║ acts like a kind of validation for a label. Consequently the market is ║▀█
█▀║ flooded with his recordings. His playing is consummate, therefore he ║▀█
█▀║ is unlikely to produce a piece of work that is below par, which makes ║▀█
█▀║ selecting a shortlist even more difficult. ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
█▀║ Sharma's story is one of dedication. He was born in January 1938 in ║▀█
█▀║ Jammu Kashmir. His father Uma Dutt Sharma asked him to pursue the ║▀█
█▀║ development of the Kashmiri santoor. Being a dutiful son he obeyed and ║▀█
█▀║ persevered despite private reservations. Though its Persian relative, ║▀█
█▀║ the santur, had associations with Persian and Iranian classical music, ║▀█
█▀║ elevating the Indian instrument to the classical concert platform was ║▀█
█▀║ widely viewed as folly in conservative quarters. But Shivkumar Sharma ║▀█
█▀║ persisted, experimented, restrung and reconfigured his instrument. His ║▀█
█▀║ first major santoor recital took place in Bombay in February 1955, but ║▀█
█▀║ it took, he reckons, until the 1970s to finally silence the querulous, ║▀█
█▀║ "the die-hard connoisseurs of the music, musicologists and purists." ║▀█
█▀║ Parallel with his development of the santoor he worked as a tabla ║▀█
█▀║ player (he accompanied acts as diverse as the renowned Punjabi ║▀█
█▀║ folksinger Surinder Kaur and sitar maestro Ravi Shankar), and his ║▀█
█▀║ understanding of tabla playing and rhythm has immeasurably enhanced ║▀█
█▀║ his performance style and stagecraft. ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
 █▀║ - Ken Hunt, www.allmusic.com ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
 █▀║ Biography : ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
█▀║ Pandit Shivkumar Sharma is an exceptionally gifted musician. In a ║▀█
█▀║ sense he is a complete artiste, having had his training in vocal, ║▀█
█▀║ percussion and instrumental music, from none other than his father, ║▀█
█▀║ Pandit Umadutt Sharma, a distinguished State Musician of Jammu and ║▀█
█▀║ Kashmir However, it was the father's express desire that Shivkumar ║▀█
█▀║ should dedicate himself to popularizing the Santoor. Pandit Shivkumar ║▀█
█▀║ Sharma has not only elevated this folk instrument of Kashmir to the ║▀█
█▀║ concert hall status but thanks to his endearing efforts, the Santoor ║▀█
█▀║ has taken its place in the concert halls around the world. With a ║▀█
█▀║ style evolved out of gayaki (vocal), gatkari (instrumental technique) ║▀█
█▀║ and layakari (rhythmic improvisation) Shivkumar imparts to his santoor ║▀█
█▀║ recitals a multidimentional appeal. His raga renderings delight the ║▀█
█▀║ purists as much as his light themes beguile the lay listeners. ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
█▀║ Shivkumar Sharma was born in Jammu, in the state of Kashmir, on 13th ║▀█
█▀║ January 1938. After training as a vocalist from the age of five ║▀█
█▀║ followed by further training in percussion through the Tabla, he took ║▀█
█▀║ on other instruments, such as the Sarod, Violin and the Harmonium. At ║▀█
█▀║ the age of fourteen, he was introduced to the Santoor by his father, ║▀█
█▀║ an instrument on which the latter had done considerable amount of ║▀█
█▀║ research. Santoor had many structural deficiencies as an instrument to ║▀█
█▀║ enable it to be appropriate to play certain basic nuances of classical ║▀█
█▀║ music form. One such example is the "meend" which involves the glide ║▀█
█▀║ or slide which enables to create a semblance of a continuum of one ║▀█
█▀║ note to the other rather than moving discretely from one note to the ║▀█
█▀║ other, thereby producing an effect similar to the vocal rendering of ║▀█
█▀║ notes. Pandit Sharma grappled with many such problems presented by the ║▀█
█▀║ Santoor and adapted the instrument to overcome comments of many ║▀█
█▀║ critics that, unlike sitar or sarod, santoor was not capable of ║▀█
█▀║ mimicking vocal techniques. He achieved this by increasing the number ║▀█
█▀║ of bridges to get a wider range of octaves, and changed the system of ║▀█
█▀║ tuning and the structural configuration of the strings to allow for ║▀█
█▀║ more precision on note reproduction. ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
█▀║ Shivkumar Sharma gave his first public performance in Bombay in 1955. ║▀█
█▀║ He recorded his first solo album in 1960. In 1967, he teamed up with ║▀█
█▀║ the Bamboo Flute Maestro, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and the Slide ║▀█
█▀║ Guitarist, Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra, to produce a thematic album "The ║▀█
█▀║ Call of the Valley" , easily one of the greatest hits in the field of ║▀█
 █▀║ Indian Classical Music. ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
█▀║ The measure of Shivkumar Sharma's achievement with the Santoor has ║▀█
█▀║ parallels with that of the great master of the Shehnai, an oboe-like ║▀█
█▀║ instrument, which was also more a folk instrument than a classical ║▀█
█▀║ one, before the legendary Ustad Bismillah Khan came on the scene ║▀█
█▀║ almost seven decades ago. The names of Shivkumar and Santoor are ║▀█
 █▀║ synonymous..! ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
 █▀║ www.santoor.com ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
 █▀║ Zakir Hussain ║▀█
 █▀║ ║▀█
█▀║ The tradition of Indian percussion has been revolutionalized by tabla ║▀█
█▀║ player Zakir Hussain. The son of Ustad Allah Rakha, the long time ║▀█
█▀║ collaborator of Ravi Shankar, Hussain has inherited his father's quest ║▀█
█▀║ for bringing the music of India to the international stage. His ║▀█
█▀║ recording credits include albums with George Harrison, Joe Henderson, ║▀█
█▀║ Van Morrison, Jack Bruce, Tito Puente, Pharoah Saunders, Billy Cobham, ║▀█
█▀║ the Hong Kong Symphony and the New Orleans Symphony. His work with ║▀█
█▀║ Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead have included performances and albums ║▀█
█▀║ with the Diga Rhythm Band and Planet Drum. Hussain joined with British ║▀█
█▀║ guitarist John McLaughlin and Indian violinist L. Shankar to form the ║▀█
█▀║ east-meets-west supergroup, Shakti, in 1975. Although the group ║▀█
█▀║ disbanded in 1978, they reunited to tour as Remember Shakti in 1998. ║▀█
█▀║ Hussain has been equally successful as a bandleader. During the 1980s, ║▀█
█▀║ he toured with Zakir Hussain's Rhythm Experience. His debut solo ║▀█
█▀║ album, Making Music, released in 1987, was called "one of the most ║▀█
█▀║ inspired East-West fusion albums ever recorded". In 1992, Hussain ║▀█
█▀║ launched a record label, Monument Records, that focused on Indian ║▀█
█▀║ music. A lengthy list of awards have been bestowed upon Hussain ║▀█
█▀║ throughout his career. In 1988, he became the youngest percussionist ║▀█
█▀║ to be awarded the title "Padma Shri" by the Indian government. Two ║▀█
█▀║ years later, he recieved the Indo-Ameican award in tribute to his ║▀█
█▀║ contributions to furthering relations between the United States and ║▀█
█▀║ India. Planet Drum, an album co-produced with Hart in 1992, received a ║▀█

█▀║ of the Tal Vadya Rhythm Band. The group subsequently evolved into the ║▀█
█▀║ Diga Rhythm Band. In 1976, the band collaborated on a self-titled ║▀█

█▀║ numerous films including Apocalypse Now!, In Custody and Little ║▀█
█▀║ Buddha. At the 1983 Cannes Film Festival, he was nominated for an ║▀█

█▀║ Sharma is a virtuoso of the santur, a hammered dulcimer of a kind ║▀█
█▀║ found all the way from western China to Hungary. But he's more than ║▀█
█▀║ simply a virtuoso player. He's the man who introduced it from the ║▀█
█▀║ purely folk tradition to the classical canon and gave it a whole ║▀█

█▀║ the New Age-cum-Crossover world, is a genuinely brilliant classical ║▀█
█▀║ tabla player. Here the two of them perform ù delightfully ù a piece ║▀█
