second solo album by jean-marie aerts (t.c. matic, producer urban
dance squad) in his jmx disguise. parbleu exemplifies aerts'
long-standing interest in roots-orientated ('black') music in
general and carribean music in particular.
fired-up by bassist patrick bylebyl and drummer philippe comte -
who made up the rhythm section for paris-based reggae-ragga band
babylon fighters - the 14 tracks of parbleu are the result of
sessions with friends 'chez aerts'. the friends and collegues that
have contributed to parbleu are berlin-based singer and guitarist
tikiman (check out the highly acclaimed album æshowcaseÆ by
rhythm&sound w/tikiman on burial mix as well as releases on
g-stone, false tuned etc), brussels-based dancer and singer
angelique willkie, new york-born brussels-based painter/rapper
koor and dj donotask (arjen de vreede). they add to the faint but
distinct carribean-flavoured aura of parbleu.
