el gran lapofsky makes subtle, loungy music with influences from
exotica, latin jazz and dub.

the after school special
hi top was founded in 1999 by madrid, spain-based newyorker david
lapof, a.k.a. el gran lapofsky.
the man made a name for himself as a member of the legendary dj
duo mulletheadz, who were famous in spain during the second half
of the nineties for spreading the drum'n'bass gospel thru their dj
sets and their fanzine'garfunkel'. lapof is a lover of that old
funky thang, and aims to put out music on hi top that contains
just that: the funk.
the label's first cd-release, the 'after school special' was born
when producer/dj rubΘn garcφa, otherwise known as watch tv,
decided to do an album of collaborations with some of his
compa±eros.
things began in summer of 1999, as this tightly-knit group of dj1s
drew up ideas and dusted off samples for this unique opportunity.
