Elle, an offthebooks Replicant codenamed Black Lotus, was created by Niander
Wallace Jr to be his unwitting assassin, the heart of his scheme to seize
control of the Wallace Corporation. Following a violent confrontation with
Niander Wallace Jr that left him blind and his father, Wallace Sr, dead, along
with Elle s sister Replicant, White Lily, Elle fled on her Spinner bike into
the desert east of Los Angeles. Months later, in the abandoned and irradiated
ruins of Las Vegas, Elle discovered, in an ancientEgyptianthemed casino, a
whole community of Replicants, survivors of the dirty bomb, living in an
apparent paradise ruled by two selfstyled queens Cleopatra and Nefertiti. On
learning that Elle too was a Replicant, she was welcomed and declared a
princess. They explained how two casinos, theirs and one run by the rival
faction of Roman Replicants, now ruled the desert city in peace and harmony,
with any found humans used as either slaves or gladiators to fight for their
pleasure in the arena. Elle was crowned Princess and learned that no one, on
entering paradise, could ever leave and that she was to be wedded off to the
leader of the Roman clan, Julius Cesar. To celebrate the union, Elle was
brought to the arena to witness a group of prisoners thrown to the lions. Elle
was shocked to see that former LAPD cop Alani Davis, whom she had rescued from
her sister, was to be one of the them and she leapt into action determined to
save the young woman...
