We are pleased. Very pleased indeed. To be able to count Waiwan as
an artist on Earthproject is something of a coup. It's actually a
BIG coup. Releasing the single Feelin Me Feelin You was cool
enough, but a second single! Who knows, maybe an album may be
     forthcoming in the future.

The album 'Distraction' released on Autonomy/ EMI was Wai's first.
From it came 'Goddess' - a track which is an undoubted classic, an
early example of what some now call nu-jazz. The album also
contained a mix of hip hop, house and various jazz styles, which
wasn't surprising seeing as Wai's influences include De La Soul,
Tribe Called Quest, Weather Report, James Brownà.. It rightfully
sold many many thousands of copies.

Then, our close friend and ally Loretta Heywood came to us with a
track she'd written and vocalled with Waiwan in Manchester. It was
a mellow jazz song almost from another era - it felt that
authentic! So after brief discussion the deal was done and thus
     started the Earthproject/Waiwan thing.

So in between 'Distraction' and 'Feelin Me Feelin' You' were
remixes: Chari Chari's 'Blackshrine' on Yellow Productions, a
re-edit of Keith Mansfield's, 'Crash Course' on Strut, a remix of
Karova's, 'Some People', and forthcoming are mixes of 'That Day' by
Magic Number, on Mantis Recordings, of Fertile Ground on
Counterpoint, and an exclusive for the next Future Sounds Of Jazz
on Compost. And we'll be keeping him busy.
