Long before a solo career beckoned, Ann Peebles supported the legendary Soul
Stirrers on tour. The experience proved inspirational, the group featuring as
it did the magical Sam Cooke. Later she would make a fine queen to Al Green's
king at Hi Records where she recorded a series of great singles. Amongst them
was "I Can't Stand The Rain" which John Lennon described as the 'greatest
