Release Notes:
CAT-A-TAC is lazy indie fuzz from Denver, Colorado. Formed in late 2003 by
longtime college friends/roommates with a mutual love of spacy indie rock,
vintage gear, and strange behavior, drawing inspiration from records by Galaxie
500, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Low, Ride, Yo La Tengo, etc.
The debut EP appeared in Aug. 2005 and, admidst a busy season of high profile
fall releases, was the #11 CMJ Add and #98 CMJ Top 200.
The debut full length is newly finished and will arrive May 1st, 2007. The
first track, Needles And Pins, also appears on Magnet Magazine's New Music
Sampler, vol. 45 for Spring 2007.
CAT-A-TAC completed two west coast tours in 2005, including a Los Angeles stop
with the Cold War Kids. The band then visited the midwest twice in 2006.
While in Ohio, CAT-A-TAC played an on-air set at WOXY. WOXY was also kind
enough to include CAT-A-TAC on the very first volume of its unsigned podcast
series, alongside Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
CAT-A-TAC played the 2006 Midwest Music Summit, and was profiled in the Midwest
Music Summit Festival Guide. CAT-A-TAC also appeared at the 2006 South Park
Music Festival, with a track from the EP included on the South Park Music
Festival compilation CD.
The Travel Channel used an instrumental version of the song "Dreamer" (off the
2005 EP) in a documentary about Berlin. The band doesn't watch much T.V., but
the Travel Channel seemed like worthwhile programming.
CAT-A-TAC has played with: Lou Barlow, The Wedding Present, The Deathray Davies,
Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Viva Voce, Rogue Wave, The Rosebuds,
alaska!, The Heavenly States, People In Planes, Margot and the Nuclear So and
Sos, West Indian Girl, Two Gallants, Blackpool Lights, Say Hi To Your Mom,
Dressy Bessy, The Black Angels, Cold War Kids, etc.
CAT-A-TAC also founded Needlepoint Records, which is home to a handful of the
more intriguing bands making artsy music in Denver, Colorado.
