Don Covay was born Donald Randolph on March 24th 1938, in Orangeburg, South
Carolina. His family moved to Washington in the early 1950's, where Covay had
stints with his family's own gospel group, The Cherry Keys, and later with
the more secular Rainbows, a group that often featured Marvin Gaye and Billy
Stewart as guest performers. Covay than landed a job as chauffer to his idol,
Little Richard, eventually doing enough to persuade Richard to hire Covay as
his opening act on tour. As a soloist, Covay achieved success with classics
like "Seesaw" and "Mercy Mercy". As a songwriter, he is regarded as one of
the R&B greats, and has written songs for legendary artists such as The
Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and The Small Faces. This
collection brings you some of the best hits from Covay, whilst containing
