Hailing from the heart of the United Kingdom, Throw Stephanie in the Incinerator
is a two-piece instrumental metal outfit thatÆs just beginning to break into the
underground of extreme music. The Road is Long, Dead Horses are Heavy is the
duoÆs first set of recorded material ever, featuring four instrumental tracks of
grimy, crawling riffs that seem to ooze out the earth itself. The band draws on
several stylistic influences, combining the ultra-textured fuzz of Kyuss with
the rolling riffs of Pelican, and adding a hint of southern flavor that makes
for one hell of a badass sound. Granted, the music is still notably repetitive
and simplisticùeach song doesnÆt differ much from the next, making it seem
fortunate that the release was limited to just four tracks. Nevertheless, the
pair is able to create an impressively dense atmosphere considering that theyÆre
only equipped with one guitar and a drummer. It seems likely that with time (and
maybe the addition of another guitarist or two), this band will be making a
stellar breed of heavy music in a style all their own.
