There's more to Disco Montego than Katie Underwood. Sure, the
production team's collaborations with the former Popstar caught
the headlines and provided two hit singles, but this debut release
from the Dowlut brothers shows the duo is emerging as one of
Australia's premier dance forces.
The mood set with the two Underwood singles hints at what's in store
û there's plenty of laid-back grooves and disco funk on this album.
Some of it is upbeat û We Got Love teams the brothers with pioneers
the Rockmelons to produce a fresh and funky track û while some of it
is downright chilled. Stand Up is straight from a 1970s disco,
complete with soul-man vocals from Rob Woolf, while U Talkin' To Me
is early 1980s electronica relived.
Vocals come by way of Underwood and Jeremy û currently heard on the
Rockmelons' track All I Want is You û as well as a host of other guests.
The brothers themselves even provide some vocals, reliving their old
days in the charts as the R&B-infused act Kaylan.
There's plenty here to satisfy the curiosity raised by Katie Underwood,
and there's plenty to keep you coming back once her contribution is over.
Production teams are in vogue at the moment and Disco Montego is fast
emerging as Australia's leading light.
