Last year, rising star Tom Esselle finally released a sequel to his 2022
debut on WOLF Music Recordings, the Rhythm Section International released
Evolutions & Revolutions. That paved the way for this return to the imprint
that have him his break, a lightly varied four-tracker that blends soulful
tech-house and deep house sounds. Esselle first drops 'Livewire', where
weirdo tech-house noises and early Orbital synth stabs around a chunky,
loose-limbed house beat, before opting for dubby bass, delay-laden vocal
snippets, gorgeous riffs and classic deep house instrumentation ('Don't
Have To'). More dubby bass underpins the smooth-but-bumpy futurism of
'Small Talk', while deep tech-house number 'Spaced Out' more than lives up
to its name.
