Scottish producer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Wasylyk (real name
Andrew Mitchell) has enjoyed an eclectic career, variously delivering sets
that blend ambient, modern classical, folk and easy listening. On
Irreparable Parables, his first solo set for five years, he turns
songwriter, recruiting a battery of guest vocalists and musical
collaborators to turn in a sublime set of sweet, gently breezy songs that
cannily combine neo-folk and wide-eyed 60s style dream pop with more subtle
nods to warming folk-rock and dubby downtempo soundcapes. Musically, it's
beautifully executed, with Wasylyk's superb string and horn arrangements
adding warmth, rurality and a genuine musical timelessness.
