Raajmahal is the project of Carla Baker of Flower Orgy and Pat Murano of No Neck
Blues Band, Decimus, K-Salvatore etc. Charybdis/Scylla is the projectÆs latest
published work and follows the duoÆs tape releases on Digitalis and Sloow Tapes, as
well as two LPs on MuranoÆs Kelippah label. Here, BakerÆs ethereal vocals hover in a
celestial atmosphere thatÆs nurtured by MuranoÆs wisps of hushed, hazy electronics,
mellow guitar fingering, and a swarm of other ambient sounds. It draws you into
RaajmahalÆs personal, spiritual realm, a place of devotion thatÆs cloaked in Eastern
and Indian traditions. Conjuring images of a distant haven, where waves gently lap
against the shore, Charybdis/Scylla is a stunning voyage to some third-eye temple
that'll shine light on the darkest soul.
