Behind 1LUV is canadian JASON OCULTO aka DR. J. who from his
homebase in Vancouver has been operating as a DJ for over 10
years. He is an avid record collector and has a rich background
in all things Jazz, Latin, Funk, House and related genres.
As a musician with contacts all around the world, including
europe, OCULTO booked artists from London and Berlin (among
others JAZZANOVA), for DJ gigs in the prosperous music scene in
the Vancouver and Seattle region. In this way he got in touch
with Sonar Kollektiv.
Not only active as a DJ but also as a producer, JASON OCULTO
had a couple of productions in the bag which early on won the
interest of JAZZANOVA. Over a period of years the debut 1LUV
album Neophilia took shape and it is even being released on
major label Columbiain Japan. This move put a productions
budget at JASON OCULTO's disposal which allowed him to have the
album mixed by DAZ-I-CUE (BUGZ IN THE ATTIC) in London. A smart
decision that definitely adds to the international character of
the album.
12" releases on SunTzu Sound (Black Daylight) followed, a track
with SLOPE (SK130CD/LP), and on Especial, the KYOTO JAZZ
MASSIVE's label. While DIXON's edit of Above You was received
with real enthusiasm in the club context.
Amongst the first track JAZZANOVA received from JASON OCULTO
aka DR. J aka 1LUV was The Answer. This song is one of the
pearls on the second Secret Love 2 - Compilation (SK066CD/LP).
And now the album Neophilia appears on Sonar Kollektiv - in a
version slightly recompiled and shortened by JAZZANOVA, which
is fully in keeping with the spirit of the album and adds
weight to the record's club aspect.
If you are looking for a brand to define the 1LUV sound it is
above all a deep house vibe that rings throughout the album and
makes a connecting thread between its 11 tracks. JASON OCULTO
integrates warm rhodes piano and classical disco synth-lines in
his sound just as he does soul horn lines (Stay), Bossa Nova
guitars (The Answer), broken beats (Neophilia) or electrified
R&B grooves (Pieces). But the most prominent feature of the
album are the congenial vocals by AMALIA TOWNSEND aka MISS
FUZE, which JASON OCULTO's productions give a very charming pop
appeal.
TOWNSEND who is not just extremely active in Vancouvers jazz
scene, has her roots in England and the Phillipines. Raised in
London; the influence of the west London scene is most
noticeable in her performance. She has a feather-light, half
spoken narrative vocal style which she combines with lively
background harmonies. The vocals act as a binding between the
electronic productions and 1LUV's live band character.
With his feathery light deep house sound 1LUV provides via this
release on Sonar Kollektiv a kind of summery freedom in spring
already.

Dgn is around since 1998...
After a few years, a few rippers who left, a few who joined, people
greeting,people yelling, people threatening, people helping, people
watching, we're still enjoying our aime: Let ppl listen to what they
are gonna buy b4 they pay a single penny.
There have been also some people and groups that helped out during the
last few years, maybe it's because of them that (against all odds) we
are still releasing and doing well, those know who they are, and we'll
thank forever.
We remind our beloved public, we're against all kind of distrubution,
don't search our rips neither in your preferred XDcc channel, nor in
your local 127.0.0.1 p2p program, We do not distribute ! But it's not
nice to buy when you do not know what you're buying.
As a matter of fact, DGN is a private group, and do not need rippers,
fast or slow shells, traders, t1+ sites, couriers, prewhores, and hw
suppliers, we need only a nice chalet in Switzerland/Canada or a Villa
in the Caribbean sea where to listen to some chillout music.
