compost records was founded in 1994 by michael reinboth. michael
is a music-journalist, dj, club-organizer, producer and a
dedicated record collector.
the first release of a forest mighty black "fresh in my mind" was
already a small underground hit, which found its way to the
playlists of james lavelle and gilles peterson. since then compost
records established itself as one of the most important labels
nation wide and gained a lot of respect all over europe with acts
like a forest mighty black, beanfield, fauna flash, trⁿby trio,
just to name some of them.
a lot of comparisons were made by the international press to
labels like talking loud, yellow productions and mowax (see press
clippings), but compost has just recently shown that it has an
independent position in the middle of the current events around
jazz, electronica, dancefloor and homelistening.
beside the official retrospective 'compost one hundred', this
limited compilation offers you an overview of the label with many
exclusive tracks never being released on compact disc before.
