Beverley Knight's managed to avoid it so far - mainly
thanks to her nerve-rattlingly fantastic voice - but she's
always suffered from a lack of truly memorable songs. But
hey, all is not lost: Take That always have someone to
call when Lulu can't make it to the enormodrome for
'Relight My Fire' that night.
'No Man's Land', the first single from her forthcoming
Music City Soul album, is the Wolverhampton warbler's best
tune in ages. Stripped down, laid back and as rich as a
70% cocoa chocolate bar, it shows off her sexy, insistent
vocals to great effect. Those wrap-around dresses and
comfy-yet-flattering wedge heels will just have to wait.
