uptown connection is the combined musical force of kevin beber and
danny mcmillan and the two have remained heavyweight fixtures on
the breakbeat scene since they dropped their classic 'renegades'
track (on carl cox's ultimatum breaks label), four years ago.
since then, the mcmillan & beber partnership has gone for strength
     to strength.

although their released work was sporadic, the quality remained at
a constant peak with remixes for new order, philadelphia blunts,
the scientist and mondo paradiso. not content with sitting back
and watching the world go by they dropped 'la' for danny and
rennie pilgrem's genre defining 'nu skool breaks volume 1', which
definitely helped elevate the breakbeat movement to its current
standing today. this was followed with the mighty 'madness', which
topped the end of year dj magazine beats chart in 1999. released
since then was the re-release of 'la' on tcr which was backed with
'from the future' on the flip.

outside the partnership, their stars are also ascending. beber has
been working as tsunami one with adam freeland, delivering 'number
43....' on the fuel label and the now classic 'hiphop phenomenon'
(marine parade) was the fruits of his collaboration with bt.
they've dropped an array of remixes for the likes of orbital,
dylan rhymes and the orb. beber's own tracks, the space aged funk
of 'chief rocka' and 'juvenile delinquent' set new standards of
breath taking production and proves why he is one of the most
promising artists to emerge from the breaks scene. beber is
currently working on his debut album with songwriter and vocalist
tamra and it should be ready for a late 2001 release.

danny mcmillan's time has also been well spent working on projects
like the boundary hunters, x- drive and mcmillan and anderson.
danny's had the pleasure of working with arthur baker, where he
was programmer on his last album and currently he's working on a
new project, yet to be titled, with william south (philadelphia
blunts/heavy shift). as mcmillan and south they have remixed the
likes of dj krush and the new uptown connection single, which also
marks the first release for danny's label inflight entertainment.
danny's also working an on album which will feature rappers and an
array of vocalists, with special guest steven mallinder from
cabaret voltaire already lined up they╣re hoping the album will
cater to the more soulful and musical end of the spectrum.

dj wise 2001 will be full of tours branching as far a field as
asia, australia and america to promote the follow up to his mix cd
'nu shapes in breaks' simply titled volume two. you can catch
danny on kiss fm on rotation with adam freeland and tom middleton
     friday's 2am to 4am.
