Spanish heavy metal veterans Saratoga return with their 12th studio
album, En Estado Puro, released via Maldito Records. Arriving eight
years after 2018's Aeternus, the record marks a definitive new chapter
for the Madrid-based band, featuring fresh blood with guitarist Charlie
Parra del Riego and drummer Arnau Marti joining longtime members Niko
del Hierro (bass) and vocalist Tete Novoa. Recorded at New Life Studios
and produced by Daniel Sabugal and Jose Garrido, the 10-track
collection balances "contundencia y sensibilidad" with thematic rangeù
from the aggressive opener "Inteligencia Artificial (IA)" examining
technology's double edge, to "A Toda Velocidad" (composed by Parra)
becoming a "himno de superacion," and the deeply moving ballad "Alma de
Cristal," which tells the story of a child born with cerebral palsy.
The album also offers surprises like "Te Vistes de Leon," where del
Hierro takes over lead vocals entirely, delivering a critique of
personal fraud with an urban rock edge. Described as "evolucion y
riesgo" that proves the band "todavia pueden sonar potentes y con
hambre," En Estado Puro finds Saratoga shaking off nostalgia, embracing
fresh energy, and firing on all cylinders.
