when dr frankenstein attempted to create a whole from surplus
parts, he created a monster which eventually destroyed him. the
question remains as to whether ian o` brien succeeds where
frankenstein failed? abstract funk theory is indeed successful in
it`s fusion of solid mellow urban basslines with well crafted jazz
undertones. this is best demonstrated by anthony shakir`s "fact of
the matter", l.a synthesis vs johnny astro`s" doidy dawg" and
jazzanova`s "introspection". all of which demonstrate a passion,
which fortunately for us does not get out of control
