Cleveland, Ohio slow punk / alt-gaze band Honeybee will release their debut
LP titled "Only Dark Shit" on May 15, 2026 via Candlepin Records. The album
will contain 10 songs of fuzzed out alt-gaze with shoegaze and emotionally
charged melodic post-hardcore elements pulled directly from the playbook that
all time greats like Hum and even later period Title Fight laid the
groundwork for. Three singles "I Remember," "Chest Pain," and "My Buick" are
streaming below for a taste of what's to come.
About the LP, the band states "ôThe name says it all. ONLY DARK SHIT is us
diving into the dark stuff and taking comfort in that trauma. WeÆre all old
enough and been through enough that we know how to cope and hide whatever
dark shit we have ù but that doesnÆt make us any less human. WeÆre still
here. Still trying, pretending, coping, etc, in the hopes we get to have
moments of life, love, and laughter.ö
With the new LP, Honeybee is sure to become a standout in the DIY scene who
will undoubtedly appeal to the many bands weaving together elements of
shoegaze, emo, and post-hardcore. Fans of newer up and comers Trauma Ray,
Glare, Narrow Head, Downward and the like are sure to love this stuff. Their
sound is defined by a massive wall of dense, atmospheric guitars and
hypnotic, echoing vocals that create a listening experience described as both
"urgent" and "gorgeous." By balancing heavy, fuzz-laden textures with
infectious hooks, atmospherics, and dynamic rhythmic shifts, the band has
earned frequent comparisons to influential acts like Hum, Nothing, Cloakroom,
Basement and Sunny Day Real Estate.
Since their debut in 2023 with the EP Soft and Less Kind, Honeybee has
steadily expanded their sonic footprint through partnerships with respected
independent labels such as Flesh & Bone Records, Candlepin Records, and
Pleasure Tapes. Their evolution continued with the 2025 single "I Remember,"
a track noted for its high-velocity "nⁿ-gaze" energy, leading into their 2026
