Let me start by saying, the GoodgOOd compilation is a strange
compilation. Don't get me wrong. We liked the compilation,
especially because it offers a quite unique collection of tracks,
very much unlike the mainstream compilations. Sounds and themes on
the GoodgOOd vary from warm jazzy and loungy grooves with
sometimes a touch of pop, a touch of funk to harder and more
experimental outlets with touches of electro and tech.

To start with the latter, there is Titonton and "Avenues" and
Nubian Mindz and "Future past". Wait a minute .. Titonton ? That
must be Titonton Duvante of course ! The energetic talented deejay
from Ohio we met at Mokka in Swiss. His music, "Avenues" reflects
a little bit his deejaying style : a good portion of funkiness in
tech rythms and lots of breaks. We really ought to see Titonton
more here in Europe. He's a pleasure to watch deejaying and to
hear his creativity with records on the dancefloor. Together with
Claude Young, he's one of the few interesting deejays on this
planet who bring a total show. Thumbs up Titonton ! Ok, weren't we
     discussing the GooDgOOd compilation ?
Sure, well, it is a pleasure to see the worlds most creative, most
open-minded, most fun, ever young at heart and with a voice that
one immediately recognizes, featured on 2 tracks of this album.
Yeps, I am talking about Roy Ayers ! He brings with MM. Black the
track "2000Black" and with Pavel Kostiuk "Pirates of Penzance". I
can't help it, but Roy Ayers again shows with what looks as a
simple funky acid jazz track, how he can put the fire into every
melody. "2000Black" is deep, very deep, warm, very warm and there
are no words to describe the effect of hearing Roy Ayers say
'think about it, think about it, think about the change' Chills &
goose bumps guaranteed on this essential killer track. Hoho, wait,
there is even more fire and energy on "Pirates of Penzance". Call
it ultra future funk. Deep broken beats, whirling synths and Roy
on vibes and scats. Amazing how an artist like Roy Ayers evolved
with the music scene from the sixties to the new millenium. Roy
Ayers is unique on this planet and deserves a monument for staying
so real, so hot, so cool, so fun, so creative and so pure in such
a time span. I wished I could say I'll be still funking around in
20 years from now like Roy Ayers does !
Hmm, weren't we talking about the GooDgOOd compilation ? Back to
the point Ez ! Ok, to the next killer combination of this
compilation, being 4Hero and a remake of John Coltrane's "Naima".
4Hero has already proven more than once that he belongs to the
upper class of musical artists and this time he takes on the
Coltrane classic with a fully acoustic ensemble. Simply splendid !
There is much more to discover in the GooDgOOd, but let me close
with another genius : I.G.Culture. Apparently, I.G.Culture did not
yet make the really big breakthrough like 4Hero did and that's
perhaps due to the fact that he is simply too good for the masses.
Already several years active on the People Records label, his
music is always an intense cocktail of emotions embedded in quite
risky and creative funky and jazzy breaks. Same thing with Da One
Way feat. Bembe Segue, offering the interesting and complex beats
and dreamy vocals of Bembe Negue we're used to from I.G.Culture.
There is perhaps more to say about the GooDgOOd, but I think I
made it quite clear that 2000Black did a superb job of making a
     really interesting compilation. Enjoy!
