Hakan Lidbo is probably Sweden's most prolific electronic producer,
with hundreds of releases under his belt. His mammoth discography
includes everything from pop shaded prospective eurovision winners,
to shadowy weirdtronica, and his forthcoming album Pop v's Antipop,
as the title suggests, offers influences from both camps. This first
taste of the album explores that fusion perfectly, with Hakan's crisp
'n' dry production allowing Daniela Bove's intimate and individual
vocal delivery to breathe pop life into the robot soul sounds.
Happily for us, London based Daniela appears on a further album track
with Hakan. She also releases her debut solo album on LA label
Mophonics later this year.
Mist are Martin 'Atjazz' Iveson and Simon Tew, and here is there
first ever collab' in the form of a rolling old school workout that's
licked the blotter of acid house on its trip from the studio.
Version comprise of that man Atjazz again, but this time teamed with
Charles Webster, the man of a million pseudonyms.. all good we might
add. Their remix is a monstrous club dub, which has already proved
it's pedigree on the dancefloor of New York 's Cielo club, where
Charles held a residency last summer. It continues to get bodies
moving, and will soon be available to all on vinyl and digital
download.
This is a record not to be missed.
