Alton Miller is a bona fide Detroit House music
legend, with over 35 12" singles to his name, and
3 full length albums. He has released music on
virtually every classic house label from Planet-E,
Guidance, KDJ, Peacefrog to Distance, Mahogany and
Nite Grooves.
The multi talented Alton is not only a luminary as
a house producer, but is also an accomplished
percussionist and vocalist. He utilizes all these
talents on his first album for R2 Records, 'Souls
Like Mine".
The album is a representation of the evolution of
Alton's soul roots, filtered through his 20 years
on the dance music scene. It includes his
trademark percussive house grooves on tracks like
"Inside Out" & "Malakou" but also tips his hat to
the future jazz/broken scene with tracks like
"Possibilities" feat. Lady Linn, (the first single
from the album), "Don't Close Your Eyes" feat
Angelique and the title track "Souls Like Mine".
Add to that the downtempo vocal soul of "Find A
Way" & "Time Is On Our Side" and the deep
spirituality of "Long Time Comin'" feat. Nonie and
"Knowledge Of The Pigmies" and you have a well
rounded soulful album of our times, as only a true
connoisseur of the scene could provide.
