       │ Mantaray was a brief collaboration between Susumu Yokotaand  ││
       │ DJ Ray; its entire output was this CD, recorded at Yokota's  ││
       │ studio in 1994. Consisting of a long, continuous mix divided ││
       │ into 20 segments, Numinous Islandis a warm, arrhythmic       ││
       │ ambient program with an overarching tropical/oriental theme  ││
       │ that is expressed at times by samples of birdsong and other  ││
       │ natural sounds and at other times by exotic percussion,      ││
       │ snatches of monastic vocalese, and hints of gamelan. One's   ││
       │ reaction to this music will depend largely on one's previous ││
       │ feelings about ambient music in particular, and new age      ││
