Despite these three blokes from the Northern region of
Italy being said to be in their mid-teens, they know
their craft damn well. Being formed somewhere in 2023
and having released a warm-up single earlier this year,
the three felt ready for their first demo offering.
Not counting the short intro, that appetizer single is
now the opener of 'Voidspawn Sacrifice' and it
immediately sets the mood. Clearly inspired by the likes
of Archgoat, Blasphemy and Black Witchery the track
starts hammering your ear drums in familiar fashion.
Staccato drums, buzz-sawing guitars and bellowing
vocals: all the necessary ingredients are lined-up and
give you a good serving of unsophisticated and utterly
primitive Bestial Black/Death Metal. As young as they
may be, these chaps have understood the aesthetics of
the genre well, leaving all frivolities and unnecessary
frills out of the repertoire. That it does not overflow
with originality is not a shame but rather a joy. Still,
Ignobleth manages to surprise with surprising dynamics.
With their at times sluggish approach, the whole thing
ends up being a bit more versatile than the average
musical peer and hooks up nicely with the brutalities of
bands like Abysmal Lord and consorts.
Although it could probably use some tweaking here and
there, 'Voidspawn Sacrifice' is a more than satisfying
debut demo. And yes, these youngsters do know their
craft, just take a look at their picture wearing Anal
Vomit, Conqueror and Blasphemy shirts. This is the real
deal, so there is still hope for the new generation, I
suggest to keep an eye on Ignobleth.
