     Pianist, composer, and bandleader Keith Jarrett is one of the most
     prolific, innovative, and iconoclastic musicians to emerge from the late
     20th century. He single-handedly changed the jazz conversation with his
     1972 solo piano studio debut "Facing You" on ECM.
     As a pianist (by no means the only instrument he plays), he also quite
     literally changed the improvisation conversation by introducing a new
     aesthetic for solo concerts: spontaneous improvisation from beginning to
     end.
     He's recorded over 100 albums as a leader in jazz and classical music. His
     1967 leader debut, "Life Between The Exit Signs", led to his playing with
     Miles Davis. Jarrett issued albums on Atlantic, Columbia, and Impulse
     including "The Mourning Of A Star", "Expectations", and "Bop-Be". He signed
     to ECM for 1972's "Facing You" and caused a critical and commercial
     sensation.
     1975's improvised "The Koln Concert" is one of the best-selling jazz piano
     albums. Jarrett's albums for ECM were varied: International trios and
     quartets, duos, orchestral offerings, and solo concerts. In 1981 he debuted
     the standards trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette, and they worked
     together for more than 30 years.
     He released several albums of classical piano recitals including works by
     Bach and Shostakovich, but returned to improvised solo recitals with 1997's
     "La Scala". Jarrett continued performing solo and releasing archival
     material, including 2011's "Rio", 2015's "Creation", and 2016's "A
     Multitude Of Angels" (a box set recorded in 1996).
     Though health issues have left him unable to tour, Jarrett and ECM
     continued releasing archival concerts like 2018's Budapest Concert and
     2022's The Bordeaux Concert; both were recorded during his final European
     tour in 2016. 2025's New Vienna marked the fifth volume in that series.
