AAcid Code 8 is the result of a spontaneous studio session
that took place after a long night behind the decks and from
the moment the bassline emerges from a dense thicket of white
noise the pair make their intentions clear. With expertly
crafted sequences punctuated by dramatic crescendos and
distinctive mood changes, AAcid Code 8 is a melting pot of
styles and influences that somehow manage to coexist, creating
a rich montage of sounds and textures. Full of subtle references,
there are ghosts at work in the machine here, summoning up visions
of dark, delirious warehouse raves - past, present and future.
The hypnotic, drifting melody, live turntable overdubs, rolling
percussion and acid tinged, electro breakdowns make AAcid Code 8
a thunderous addition to any set.
Tarantula Continuum is an altogether different experience.
Rolled by Nev before being thoroughly smoked in CasioÆs Bergheim
studio, itÆs a dense, multi-layered monolith with a ring shifting
bassline suspended in a delicate web of glitchy delays, filtered
efx and scratchy melodies. Accompanied for the most part by a
shuffling, metallic snare pattern, the track steadily builds
towards its climactic breakdown before unleashing the howling
synth line that lurks at its heart.
Free from any particular ┤purist` ethic, both tracks represent
raw, organic, freestyle techno and will appeal to those who prefer
venturing into abstraction to simply painting by numbers.
