led by producer/multi-instrumentalist robin mullarkey (zero 7,
eska, 2banks of 4, ty, natalie williams) and vocalist, co-writer
and soulmate anna stubbs (rima, hospital records), brotherly is a
collective of londonÆs brightest musicians who are pushing
boundaries in jazz, nu-jazz, broken beat and urban music, drawing
from an extensive pool of influences encompassing fusion,
electronica, m-base, soul and african music.
the live outfit is committed to doing justice to the recordings
and consists of a highly accomplished and rehearsed 9-piece band
of londonÆs most in-demand musicians.
2005 saw the single 'put it out' (bitasweet records) go down a
storm at the popular broken beat night, co-op @ plastic people. as
well as it being voted 'single of the fortnight' in blues and soul
magazine back in september.
brotherly also performed a live session for gilles peterson's
worldwide show that was aired on bbc radio 1 at the end of
january'06
the single 'searching' was released by our very own music at
monumental label in october to a rapturous reception. with plenty
of great reviews and some radio play, watch this space with news
of the album release
