Brian Foote (Peak Oil, Leech) and Paul Dickow (Strategy) have long been
fans of each other's work, so it's not surprising to see them join forces
for the first of what could well be a series of collaborative releases. On
joint debut album High Cube, they mine their combined love of off-kilter
electronica, dreamy soundscapes, dubby basslines, heady downtempo beats and
ultra-deep, spaced-out grooves. It's largely blissful and becalmed,
offering toe-tapping and head-nodding beats wrapped in warming and
immersive pads, chords and melodic motifs. Those versed in their solo
catalogues will feel right at home, but it should also appeal to all those
who enjoy the work of labels like Mood Hut and Future Times.
