Last year, Japanese producer Takuya Matsumoto impressed with a near-perfect
debut album on Vibes & Pepper Records, the sublime 'Vertical Stories'. Here
he follows that up via a six-track mini album on Inhale Exhale, a label he
made his first appearance on early last year. There's much to admire across
the collection, from the bongo-rich house beats, steel pan style melodies
and sunny pads of 'Song of the Ocean', the deep acid of 'A Maschine From
Tokyo' and the piano-rich electro-meets-deep house flex of 'Murakami', to
the loose-limbed dancefloor colour of 'Sumitting in the Dark', the classic
jazzy jungle shuffle of 'Out of the Difficulty', and the spaced-out
dub-house hypnotism of 'It's My Dub 1.56'. In a word: impressive!
