release notes:
Pinacles austères is the debut mini-album from Ianthin, the singular
vision of French multi-instrumentalist Jérôme Bouquet-known also as one
half of Extreme Metal duo Ergholae Somptator.
Ianthin's music has its roots in metal, particularly doom and black, but
also takes the liberty of exploring other universes. Threads of prog,
pop, jazz permeate throughout the record, painting a rich tapestry on top
of an underlying black metal maelstrom, crafting a sound that is
unmistakably its own: heavy, dissonant, atmospheric, and strange.
Although Bouquet is the sole member in Ianthin - handling virtually all
the instruments on the record (keyboards, drums, guitar, bass, vocals) -
the record also includes compelling guest appearances - namely Maxime
Jeune's trumpet weeping across "Il pleut", and the haunting foreboding
six-piece choir on closer "Parvenu".
