Recorded in the depths of dark London winters, Dromos's
sophomore release Failing Light emerges as a testament
to evolution, moving beyond the death/doom hallmarks of
their debut EP toward something far more introspective.
In contrast to the crushing aggression of their 2024
release on Dry Cough, Failing Light strips away excess
in favour of raw gravity - three vast sonic landscapes
resonating as loudly in negative space as billows of
distortion. The mix, delivered by Greg Chandler of
Esoteric, prioritises this sense of sepulchral depth.
By pairing the tenets of traditional funeral doom with a
cinematic vision, each composition on Failing Light
unfolds like a Béla Tarr film, where subtle layering and
looming aggression pair to create overwhelming emotional
weight. Notes hang high in the distant sky, building
anticipation for catharsis that may never arrive.
