   release notes:
   Poignard ("dagger" in French) is a band from Quebec City. Creuser sa
   tombe (roughly "digging your own grave") is their first EP of punky heavy
   metal. The first band that comes to mind is Mot├╢rhead, thanks to a very
   old-school (think late '70s/early '80s) sound and vocals that are not
   without loosely reminding Lemmy, albeit a bit higher pitched, and the
   lyrics are in French. The French style is closer to that of France than
   Quebec and I couldn't help but think of some of the French heavy metal
   heavyweights of the '80s while listening to this. There's that catchy and
   addictive punk-ish rock 'n' roll vibe throughout that really sounds like
   the band travelled through time to find their style. They mix the
   aforementioned Mot├╢rhead style with a more traditional heavy metal sound,
   basically mixing some of the best dirty heavy metal from back in the day.
