At first glance, the Austrian metal scene is not full of
bands, but the opposite is true. There are many quality
bands active in the local underground, which just lack a
bigger name and promotion abroad. This February, I
visited a concert of three thrash-death bands from our
southern neighbors in Vimperk, South Bohemia, and I was
most impressed by MOROS. Borci from the town of
Hohenems, which is located close to the border with
Liechtenstein, is celebrating exactly ten years on the
scene this year. I honestly don't know what the band's
concert experience is like, but as far as MOROS'
discography is concerned, they only have one record from
last year and that is the big album "Lakeside
            Terrorfr├╢nt".
The CD cover has quite nice graphics done in the chaos
of war with lots of dead bodies, fighting zombies and
blood. Classic thrash-death metal cliche. The content of
the carrier itself is definitely more interesting. Nine
full-length songs will be released in a half-hour
portion of honest old school death-thrash metal. To be
precise, MOROS bet musically on classic thrash metal
methods, Michael Mons's vocals are typical, but
            well-understood growling.
You won't get the feeling that the band is repeating
itself and getting bored. The guitars cut in the style
of old thrash bands, catchy riffs, dense sound and the
harmony of all musicians gives the recording a
professional stamp. I like that in several tracks, MOROS
can slow down and let the listeners drift away with a
pleasant and melodic guitar solo. Fury then follows.
Also, Michael's vocals are not monotonous, when in
addition to growling, he can pull out some passages with
a properly aggressive roar. Favorite songs for me are
definitely "Souleater", "Breed of the Earth", "Skeleton
King" and the music video "Lakeside Terrorfr├╢nt".
Years of playing, composing and filing material have
brought MOROS its fruit in the form of a finished band.
            A very successful debut!
Not to be confused with other bands with same name.
