| Floss Mode is the only album by The Govenor, released in 1995 on |
| Handle Bar Records. Hailing from Oakland, California, he emerged |
| from the 1990s Bay Area underground scene alongside the House Reps |
| collective, delivering a raw and authentic West Coast sound deeply |
| rooted in street reality. |
| |
| During a time when the Bay Area rap scene was being shaped by |
| artists like Too Short, E-40, and Richie Rich, The Govenor offered |
| a darker and more introspective perspective on everyday life. The |
| album blends elements of mobb music, heavy basslines, G-funk |
| influences, and street-centered storytelling focused on survival, |
| loyalty, and ambition, capturing the atmosphere of mid-90s Oakland. |

| Produced by members of the House Reps collective as well as D.J.D., |
| Go Twice, and Lev Jay Soul, the project moves between laid-back |
| California grooves and more emotional, melancholic soundscapes. |
