Once, which opens in New York and Los Angeles on May 18th
was directed by John Carney, who prior to stepping behind
the camera was the bassist for Irish band The Frames.

The soundtrack to his film returns to his roots, in a
manner of speaking, by employing the musical services of
his former bandmate Glen Hansard.

Hansard not only supplies the music in the film, but he's
also one of the lead characters in the story, which is
billed as an Irish alternative-folk musical. Joining
Hansard in the film and on the soundtrack is Marketa
Irglova, a musician from the Czech Republic.
