Jamie Odell is a twenty five year old musician and producer
currently residing in Ilford, Essex. JimpsterÆs first two releases
æThe Initial EPÆ and æMartian ArtsÆ appeared on his own Freerange
label. They established JimpsterÆs hallmark of fusing global
musical influences from Jazz, Funk and Dub with modern freestyle
and breakbeat ambience. This mixture of styles and grooves, samples
and live musicians gives the music a progressive and original
style. JimpsterÆs first outing on the Kudos label, æPerennial
PleasuresÆ and the follow up æInterconnect EPÆ firmly established
Jamie as a pioneer in what has been termed æThe New Jazz MovementÆ.
Critically acclaimed, these releases led to Jamie remixing tracks
for Airto Moreira and Lamb as well as making a considerable
contribution to ColdcutÆs æLet Us PlayÆ album (writing / production
/ performing). With a number of successful gigs under their belt,
JimpsterÆs live reputation continues to grow. The band includes
Jamie on keys and sampler, Cheyne Towers on Bass, Roger Wickham on
tenor sax and flute and Dave Walsh on drums. They play a truly live
set (no DAT or sequencers!) resulting in a spontaneous jam session
vibe.
