Pandamonium and label founder Norma Jean have both been quiet as of
late but in the late 90s they put together a deliciously chilled
house with the spotlight on NJB's sweet sax and vocal stylings.
Some of the Panadmonium cuts received wider exposure on KDJ, Fnac,
Funky Chocolate and Peacefrog releases.
NJB's follow up to "Bitch" was first released on PR 03
12" and later followed up by this double-pack. The subtle Moodyman
(their spelling!) mix from PR 03 appears in edited version here on
B1 and B2 seems to mine the same production with just brief vocal
snippets and sax.
On C1, however, KDJ takes the track to the depths in a driving
version that was later picked up by Peacefrog for a ltd promo for
Norma Jean's album (D2 is a pure instrumental of that same KDJ
mix). Rounding it off is the "Mystery Song" which sounds like an
early mix of a track that appeared again in 2001 as a b-side to
"Dreams" on Peacefrog under the name "Mystery".
Fun fact? Seems that Norma Jean got her chops playing with Zappa's
Mothers of Invention in the mid 70s.
