Release Notes:

Echaskech have been around for longer than you might think, in various different
forms. They may have finally found their sound but took a load of computers,
wires, violin lessons, more than 7 different recording formats and a long long
timeà

The sumptuous and organic sound of EchaskechÆs unique style of Electro/Breaks
has been born from a spectrum of influences that strangely enough started from
classical roots when Dominic Hoare and Andy Gillham first met, playing in the
same orchestra during their school days.

The classical realm wasnÆt enough for their shared passion for the electro sound
that, then, was what they wanted to make...Kraftwerk's æÆTour de FranceÆÆ and
Street Sounds Electro 1-3 were their poison. Hip Hop was even courted via
influences such as Big Daddy Kane, Jungle Brothers and the Beastie Boys. A shed
full of wires a ZX Spectrum, tape decks, SK1 and a synth was their introduction
to the new sound they wanted to make.

Then there was House. And, by this stage, Dom and Andy were in prime position to
experience M25 raves and ended up promoting and DJ'ing at their own parties in a
road side cafe just off the M25. That was the 80s!

A hiatus in the duo's combined music career occurs here only to be drawn back
together by a shared love of Drum and Bass in the mid 90s and Goldie's
Metalheadz sessions on Sundays at The Blue Note.

In their second phase they rebuilt their studio in the back of a garage in Kent
and embarked on a Drum and Bass project with a modicum of success over a number
of years û A 12 inch release and many DJ bookings across the UK with their MC
made it a fun time for the boys. They ended up moving to London and became fully
involved in promoting club and bar nights, DJ'ing and producing...

This led them to explore other forms of, primarily, dance music - techno in
particular being a strong influence which, although a dirty word in many
quarters, still influences Echaskech today in it's modern form.

Shifting to techno based rhythms and ever improving technology led the boys to
play live at various underground parties around London.

Following this the guys went their separate ways in terms of music production
again, yet continued to DJ and promote around London holding 'Information'
parties at Rhythm Factory, Electrowerkz, Scar, Cafe 1001, on boats and, ahem,
disused offices....

The party sound of choice was a combination of breaks, techno and electro and
it's this influence that provided the backbone of the music they made separately
and played out.

Then late 2004 they plugged their machines together, jammed those tracks
together to produce a new æÆliveÆÆ sound that has totally changed their approach
to writing and producing and has made the sound that is Echaskech. It was third
time lucky .

Excited by this they decided to take their new live approach and play a long
string of performances on stage throughout 2005 but with the addition of one
last live element; video. Enter Mach V.

Mach V (a.k.a Mark van der Vord), regular supplier of visuals for the likes of
The Big Chill and SoxaN, provides a unique visual element to each Echaskech
track from a variety of visual sources. As this collaboration has developed over
a rigorous live schedule, so has the technical integration between Andy, Dom and
Marks computer set up, resulting in a fully coordinated Audio Visual experience
that you can both chill out and dance to.

Dom and Andy currently live in East London. Mach V in Brixton. Current listening
includes: Sigur Ros, Sereena Maneesh, Marsen Jules, Deaf Centre, Nathan Fake,
Boc Scadet, Isan, AFX, Sickoakes, Biosphere, Cocteau Twins, Louderbach,
Hexstatic, Coldcut, Soul of man, Evil Nine, The Autobots, Ecce, Lali Puna, Jon
Hopkins, The Prodigy, Lee Coombes, Fink, Jon Kennedy, Beauty Room and Brian Enoà
